Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
