Barcelona to Host Historic Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Recent Activities
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
