Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and madness with equal glee, all while weaving captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant trust and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
