The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to reprise their roles in the latest Hunger Games series movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.
