The British government is prepared to move forward with using the total value of frozen Russian assets to support the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to come to the table.

They added that the initiative would be executed in close cooperation with the America.

UK restrictions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, resources provided to Ukraine using Russia's assets had only been taken from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their desire to drive progress toward using the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to end the war.

He noted that more sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration comes after European representatives met in the Danish capital recently to consider utilizing immobilized Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to take or otherwise use frozen Russia's funds, according to news outlets.

The total of frozen Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow executed widespread aerial attacks across Ukraine on that day, resulting in power cuts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were fatally injured and at least 20 people were wounded in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a post on X following the attack, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike focused on public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not just talk but decisive action - from the United States, EU, and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told the press he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the weapons procurement scheme, under which partner nations acquire arms from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the Britain's strong support for Kyiv, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as enforce additional restrictions on Moscow.
