Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the rains, with their items and dwellings destroyed.

Intense storms over the past week have worsened the precarious circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the territory, as reported by relief organizations.

"Awful" Night Creates Serious Dangers

A official detailed the weather overnight as "terrible", with downpours so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally difficult for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," noted the representative.

Officials express grave anxiety that young ones residing in makeshift shelters in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and additional ailments.

Fatalities and Significant Damage

The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Further statements suggest a greater death toll. Officials said that multiple homes had collapsed completely and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Nearly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated shelters submerged.
  • Many people required to relocate again.

Aid Efforts Considered Inadequate

Agencies have increased deliveries of shelter, warm covers and clothing following the halt in hostilities began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid getting in.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that relief and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the needs is so immense that we continue to see many thousands of families and children who are truly struggling each evening," stated one official.

Future Concerns and Truce Terms

The second phase of the ceasefire involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of personnel, and other conditions.

Relief groups have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to address immediate and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in October 2023. Following actions have caused a significant number of lives lost in the territory, as per medical reports.
